What are radicals?
Radicals (部首, bushu) are components used to classify and recognize kanji. They often hint at a meaning category, but they do not always determine pronunciation. This page lists on and kun readings when the form also functions as an independent kanji; “—” means the component variant is not normally read by itself.
Example: 亻 is the left-side form of 人 and is called にんべん (ninben). In 体 it appears on the left and contributes the person/body idea.
